A worker at a cranberry bog in Bourne , who died Friday after an industrial incident, has been identified.
Hector Maldonado, 71, died Nov. 21 after he was caught in a piece of heavy machinery known as a bog sander, according to the Cape & Islands District Attorney’s office.
His coworkers were able to free him from the machine before first responders arrived, but he was pronounced dead at the scene, officials told WCVB .
“It happened in an outside industrial area that predominantly grows cranberries. So, we did respond. We did not have to do a physical rescue of the party. His co-workers were able to free him from the equipment,” Deputy Fire Chief Shawn Silva told WCVB.
The incident is still under investigation.
