The active search for Travis Turner, the 46-year-old football coach at Union High School, continues, as Virginia State Police said over the weekend.

The mystery of where Turner is came at the same time that the team he coaches at Union -- which is in Wise County's Big Stone Gap -- is in the Virginia Region 2D championship game amid an undefeated season. But that's secondary at the moment as the search for Turner continues as of publishing this on Tuesday morning.

His full name is Travis L. Turner, and he was officially a missing person per Virginia State Police since Sunday, with the coach missing since last Thursday.

He's from Appalachia and by most accounts, he's a huge part of the local community.

When did Travis Turner go missing?

Per WJHL:

The VSP said agents were sent to the residence of Turner on Thursday as part of an investigation, but while in transit, the agents were informed that Turner was no longer there. The VSP stated that agents were not going to the residence to arrest Turner, but rather that it was part of the investigation.

Per Newsweek, she said this in a deleted Facebook post:

"As of right now…Travis is missing, & that’s all we know. We love him & need him here with us…Just keep praying that he comes home."
