Shock new figures released yesterday show a massive increase in sex crimes across Scotland in the last four years including rape, attempted rape and revenge porn. Yesterday the head of Rape Crisis Scotland said the statistics should be the country's biggest "source of shame." ‌

Sex crimes to the year ending September 30 were seven percent higher compared to the previous 12 months (increasing from 14,651 to 15,704 crimes), and 12 percent higher compared to the year ending September 2021 (increasing from 14,052 to 15,704 crimes). ‌

Rape and attempted rape increased by 11 percent compared to 2024 (2,746 to 3,043 crimes), and increased by 25 percent from the year ending September 2021 (2,436 to 3,043 crimes). ‌
