DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - Hunters are enjoying the great outdoors in both Iowa and Illinois this year, but DNR officials want hunters to be aware of the safety and responsibility that comes along with exploring the beauty and bounty of deer hunting.

Currently, in Iowa it’s deer archery season which runs through Dec. 5, officials said. Then, beginning Dec. 6 through Dec. 10 is when the first shotgun season kicks off.

For those planning to hunt, Iowa DNR officer Mick Klemesrud said it’s all about being prepared.
