A jewelled golden hare inspired by a popular book character could fetch an eye-watering sum at auction. The necklace sparked a nationwide treasure hunt in 1979 and is now going under the hammer for the first time in nearly 37 years.

The piece was inspired by Jack Hare, the character from Kit Williams' Masquerade, which was more than just an ordinary picture book. Beyond its stunning illustrations and delightful tale, the book also held clues to discover the real treasure that Williams had crafted and concealed.
