MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — Abdimajid Mohamed Nur, 24, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for his involvement in the $300 million Feeding Our Future fraud case.
U.S. Attorney Daniel N. Rosen says Nur and his co-defendants fraudulently claimed to serve 18 million meals to children, securing over $47 million in program funds through false reports. The operation was based out of Empire Cuisine & Market in Shakopee, which joined the Federal Child Nutrition Program in April 2020.
Judge Nancy E. Brasel remarked on Nur's actions, stating "It is so disappointing and so disheartening that where others saw a crisis and rushed to help, you saw money and rushed to steal."
