Australian chef Skye Gyngell has died at the age 62 following a rare skin cancer diagnosis in 2024

The Michelin-starred chef is most known for pioneering the "slow food" movement and her work with biodynamic produce and sustainability

She is survived by her two daughters, grandchild and husband

London-based Australian chef Skye Gyngell, known for pioneering the "slow food" movement, died on Saturday, Nov. 22, from a rare and aggressive skin cancer.

According to a statement, via The Guardian , Gyngell was "surrounded by her family and loved ones" at the time of her death, after a battle with Merkel-cell carcinoma.

"Skye was a culinary visionary who influenced generations of chefs and growers globally to think about food and its connection to the land," read the statem
