Sir Elton John has announced a one-off gig at one of the world's biggest music festivals, and says he can't wait to prove he and his band are sounding 'as good as we ever have'

Sir Elton John says he "can't wait" to perform as the headline act at a major summer festival next year, three after his final Farewell Yellow Brick Road concert. The 78-year-old Candle in the Wind megastar , who was knighted by Queen Elizabeth II in 1997, will be taking to the stage at Rock in Rio 2026 , performing at the city's Palco Mundo (World Stage) stadium , which can hold around 80,000 people and has played to host to other legends such as Queen, Metallica and Beyoncé.
