CLEVELAND — The holiday travel rush is underway at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, where officials expect more than 300,000 passengers to pass through the terminals during the Thanksgiving travel period running Nov. 22–30.

Airport officials said the Wednesday before Thanksgiving and the Sunday after the holiday will be the busiest travel days. To manage the spike in passengers, CLE has increased staffing, including customer service workers, custodial crews, maintenance personnel and officers from the Cleveland Police Airport Unit.

Travelers should be prepared for longer-than-usual lines at airline ticket counters and all three security checkpoints, officials said. The South Security Checkpoint opens at 3:15 a.m., while the North and Central checkpoints open at 3:45 a.m.
