LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A shuttered Kroger in south Louisville is officially on the market, listed for $1,945,000 as neighbors hope the property becomes something that truly serves the Wilder Park community.

The former grocery store on 3rd Street, about a mile south of Churchill Downs, now sits with faded signage and a “closed” notice, serving as a reminder of an era gone by for longtime residents.

“It grew up with me.”

For people like Wilder Park neighborhood resident Lonnie Joseph, the closure was personal.

“I grew up with it, and it grew up with me,” Joseph said. “My wife and I tried to get in here as many times as possible to, I guess, pay your respects to the old store.”
