A Birmingham teen died in a Tuesday crash in Chilton County, authorities say.

The single-vehicle crash happened about 8:33 p.m. Monday, Nov. 24, and claimed the life of an 18-year-old, said Capt. Jeremy Burkett, spokesman for the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency. His name was not released by law enforcement.

The teen was fatally injured when the 2019 Acura RDX he was driving left the roadway and struck a tree, Burkett said. He was not using a seat belt at the time of the crash and was pronounced dead at the scene, Burkett said.

The crash happened on Interstate 65 near the 220 mile marker, about one mile north of Jemison in Chilton County.
