The New Orleans Saints have officially released wide receiver Brandin Cooks and he has cleared waivers, meaning he is on the open market for anyone to sign, including the Pittsburgh Steelers .

Cooks was the veteran receiver of the group in New Orleans, who now only has Chris Olave out of their original trio. They traded Rashid Shaheed at the trade deadline to the Seattle Seahawks for two picks, but could not move Cooks. Now, Cooks could latch on with another team.

The Steelers have searched for wide receiver help and tried to do so at the trade deadline, but could not find the right fit for them. As a result, they signed Marquez Valdes-Scantling, who has still not played a game, but could be elevated from the practice squad.
