One of the country’s most accomplished curlers and a well known television personality has passed away.
Colleen Jones of Halifax, Nova Scotia passed away today at the age of 65 following a battle with cancer.
Jones was the skip of two women’s world championship teams, and won six Tournament of Hearts Canadian women’s curling championships.
Only Jennifer Jones surpassed her previous record of 152 wins, and in 2019 she was named as the third greatest Canadian curler of all time in a poll by TSN.
On top of her athletic career, Jones also established herself as a successful and popular broadcaster with CBC television. She retired in 2023 after almost four decades on the air.
Jones was recognized by the Governor General of Canada with a Golden Jubilee Medal in 2002, a Diamond Jubilee Medal
