One of the most decorated curlers in Canadian history has passed away.

Colleen Jones died Monday, her son Luke announced in a statement. She was 65 and had been battling cancer for the last three years.

The Halifax native won six Scotties Tournament of Hearts national titles, including four in a row from 2001 to 2004. She shares the record for most national titles with Jennifer Jones and Jill Officer.

She won two world championships, along with one world senior championship, and played in a record 21 national championships.

Jones also had a highly successful broadcasting career, retiring from the CBC in 2023 after almost 40 years with the network.

She joined CBC in 1986 as Halifax’s first female sports anchor and also worked for NBC at Olympic curling events.
