ST. PAUL, Minn. — Gov. Tim Walz celebrated Minnesota's annual tradition of welcoming the state's Thanksgiving turkey to the Capitol, emphasizing the importance of local farmers.
"Minnesota farmers put food on the Thanksgiving table for millions of families across the country," Walz said. "We thank those farmers for everything they do to make those Thanksgiving traditions possible."
Minnesota, the top turkey-producing state, has over 600 farms raising 32 million birds in 2025, contributing to 16% of the nation's turkey supply. The industry generates $1 billion in cash receipts annually, with $78 million from exports.
