KOUNTZE, Texas — A group of Buddhist monks walking from Fort Worth to Washington, D.C., arrived in Kountze on Monday for day 30 of their “Walk for Peace,” according to an update posted by the nonprofit.

The group outlined its plans in a Nov. 23 update, saying it would continue east and stop in Kountze.

Their schedule included a late-morning lunch stop at the Hardin County Forest & Agricultural Youth Association, followed by an overnight rest planned at Phil’s Bar located at 4444 TX-327 in Kountze between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m.

Organizers encouraged supporters to “walk with us mentally,” asking people to practice kindness while following the route.
