ROCKFORD, Ill. — The community is getting shopping advice ahead of the holiday weekend.

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) said consumers should have a plan if they want to shop on Black Friday, and to make sure to stop by local businesses on Small Business Saturday.

Dennis Horton, Senior Director of the BBB Rockford Regional Office, said it's good to have a plan before you go out to shop after Thanksgiving.

"Start with a list of items and use sales flyers and promotions to determine which store offers the best prices, especially on big-ticket and popular items," said Horton. "Setting a budget before heading out and sticking to it can help avoid overspending and buyer’s remorse."
