With the Boston Red Sox trading for Sonny Gray on Tuesday, fans are wondering what’s next for the Sox. Many assume that Boston’s No. 1 priority should be working out a deal to re-sign third baseman Alex Bregman.
Another righty bat that has been incessantly linked to Boston this offseason is free agent Pete Alonso, who is the all-time home runs leader in the New York Mets’ organization.
Alonso’s swing would fit perfectly with the Green Monster, and some fans are thirsting for both Alonso and Bregman to end up in Red Sox uniforms before Opening Day 2026.
