The New England Patriots are leaning on familiarity in a time of need.

New England made a series of roster moves on Tuesday, signing tackle Thayer Munford Jr. to the active roster and guard Bill Murray to the practice squad — and in addition, placing cornerback Alex Austin on injured reserve and releasing running back Jonathan Ward from the practice squad.

Munford’s addition serves as a full circle moment, as he was originally signed to the practice squad before being poached by the Cleveland Browns — who then released him and signed him to the practice squad.

Murray’s, come to think of it, is another full circle moment, as he originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent and spent two seasons on the practice squad before being released and signing with the Chicago Bears.
