LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - The Louisville Metro Police Department has released the names of two officers who shot and killed a man who was suspected in a robbery.
The incident happened on Saturday, Nov. 22. Officers responded to the call of a robbery in the 100 block of East Southland Boulevard, where the caller told police they had been robbed at gunpoint and gave a description of the suspect.
According to police, the officers found a man near the scene and tried to make contact with him. That’s when police say he began to flee while taking out a handgun.
LMPD said Officer Patrick Norton and Officer Richard Waller both shot at the man. He died at the scene.
Norton was hired on June 13, 2016, and is currently assigned to LMPD’s Special Operations Division as a K-9 Handler. LMPD said he h
