Michigan State put together a hot-shooting afternoon and clamped down defensively in a dominant performance to stay unbeaten ahead of playing for a tournament title.
The No. 11 Spartans (6-0) built a 20-point lead early and forced a season-high 24 turnovers while rolling to an 89-56 victory against East Carolina (2-4) on Tuesday in the Fort Myers Tip-Off. They advance to face No. 18 North Carolina (5-0) on Thanksgiving (4:30 p.m., FOX) for the championship at Suncoast Credit Union Arena.
Jaxon Kohler remained highly efficient by knocking down all six field goals, including four of the team’s season-high 13 triples, for 16 points. Divine Ugochukwu netted a career-high 16 points off the bench while Coen Carr scored 13 and Carson Cooper added 10.
