A dealer accused of supplying cocaine across Northern Maryland was taken down after troopers recovered more than a kilogram of drugs and a handgun, state police say.
Perryville resident Dwight L. Alexander, 48, was arrested at around 8:30 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 24, at about 8:30 in the morning on a warrant issued by the Cecil County District Court Commissioner’s Office, police said.
The arrest stems from a months-long Maryland State Police investigation into cocaine distribution in Cecil County.
Troopers identified Alexander as a source of supply and secured search warrants for his Perryville home and two vehicles, according to MSP.
Shortly before 1:50 in the afternoon on Wednesday, Oct. 8, troopers stopped Alexander while he was driving a black Acura MDX at a convenience store in the 300 block of West Pulaski Highway in Elkton, investigators said.
Cocaine was found in plain view in the center console cup holder, and Alexander was detained.
Troopers then executed a search warrant at his home in the 300 block of Broad Street in Perryville, where they recovered:
- 1,044.5 grams of suspected bulk cocaine;
- A functioning digital scale;
- Drug packaging material;
- A tan and black Polymer 80 9mm loaded pistol with a magazine containing 17 rounds and one in the chamber.
A search of the Acura MDX yielded another 126.4 grams of cocaine and additional CDS packaging materials, according to state police.
In total, investigators recovered 1,170.9 grams of cocaine. MSP noted the bulk cocaine was stamped with a “Lexus” logo on the compressed block.
Alexander was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm, drug trafficking crimes, and other related offenses.
He is being held without bail at the Cecil County Detention Center.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
