McQueen is back on top in state football.

McQueen beat Sloan Canyon 27-20 on Tuesday at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas for the NIAA Class 4A state title.

It is the school's seventh state football championship and first since 2008.

The Lancers led 13-0 in the first quarter, but the Pirates tied it at halftime, 13-13. McQueen then had to rally after falling behind, 20-13, early in the third quarter.

McQueen coach Matt Marner said his team remained calm and poised wafter falling behind.

"We've played in tough games. We played an overtime game. We weren't afraid of it," Marner said. "We played in games where had to stave off momentum and these guys showed a lot of resolve."
