LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A Lexington restaurant owner is defending his employee after a customer left a negative online review that included personal attacks on the server’s appearance.

Last week, a customer at Blue Door Smokehouse left a mixed review saying the food was good but criticized the service, calling the server discourteous. The review then turned personal, referring to the employee as “the weird kid in the weird hat.”

“The gentleman said that he was served by the weird kid in the weird hat and I just kind of took offense to that. I don’t appreciate the name calling,” said Jeffrey Newman, Blue Door Smokehouse owner.

Newman responded with a positive message about his employee rather than letting the post go unanswered.
