JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A controversial rezoning proposal on Jacksonville's southside drew a packed crowd at tonight’s city council meeting.

Last week, the owner of Apna Bazar, a South Asian market, pulled back his plans on building a meat processing facility.

However, residents in the area just learned that the owner still plans on going forward with other plans in a larger scale project.

Tuesday night, city council heard from concerned residents, supporters of the project and the attorney representing the owner.

Residents rallied in red shirts, with some reading “cant comply” and “stop industrializing my neighborhood,” insisting the project does not belong in their neighborhood.
