On Wednesday at 12:59 a.m. a winter weather advisory was released by the National Weather Service valid from Thursday 1 a.m. until Friday 7 p.m. for Southwestern St. Lawrence.

The weather service says to be ready for, "Total snow accumulations between 1 and 8 inches. Winds gusting as high as 30 to 40 mph."

"Travel could be very difficult. The hazardous conditions could impact holiday commuters," says the weather service. "Slow down and use caution while traveling During lake effect snow, the weather can vary from bands of locally heavy snow to dry weather just a few miles away. Visibilities can also vary greatly. Be prepared for rapid changes in weather, visibility, and road conditions."
