Omaha firefighters rescue one from burning home early Wednesday

The Omaha Police Department put out a fire in a home early Wednesday.

A call came out shortly after 2 a.m. Wednesday for a fire in a home near 25th and Ellison avenues, in the North Omaha area.

A fire official tells First Alert 6 on the scene that crews saw smoke and flames were coming from the home when they first arrived.

Firefighters found a person in a bedroom that was unable to get out, and they had to break a window to get to them. The fire official says the person was pulled out to safety — with no injuries.

There is significant damage to the house, according to OFD. The cause of the fire is being investigated.
