Much of Michigan is under high wind warnings or advisories because of a winter storm that could create wind gusts up to 60 mph, according to the National Weather Service.
A high wind warning is in effect in west Michigan through 7 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 27. In west Michigan, southwest Michigan, northern Michigan, southeast Michigan and the thumb, wind advisories are in place, some through 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26 or 4 a.m. or 7 a.m. Nov. 27.
"Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles," the NWS said.
If you're driving over the Mackinac Bridge this Thanksgiving week, keep an eye on the forecast, as the Mackinac Bridge Authority currently has a high wind warning in place.
