Syracuse, N.Y. — Two Section III teams are still alive in the state playoffs, and both hold No. 1 spots in the latest New York State Sportswriters’ Association football rankings .
Two-time defending state champion Christan Brothers Academy is the top team heading into the Class AA state semifinals at Cicero-North Syracuse. The Brothers face Section VI’s Bennett/Olmsted/Middle Early College/East on Saturday at 6 p.m. at Cicero-North Syracuse High School.
Morrisville-Eaton, which reached the top of the 8-man football rankings for the first time last week after defeating defending champion Frankfort-Schuyler in the sectional title bout, will take on Section IX’s Eldred at noon on Friday at Cicero-North Syracuse High School.
