Two more men have been charged after a jewelry store in Maywood was robbed at gunpoint last year, authorities announced Wednesday, Nov. 26.

Daiker Yair Rivero Urbano, a 28-year-old Detroit resident and 26-year-old Christian Ricardo Vera Castillo, a Brooklyn resident, are now among six people who face charges for the jewelry store heist, Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella said.

On Tuesday, April 23, 2024, Maywood police responded to Diamond Fantasy Jewelry Store on West Pleasant Avenue after two men entered the store and brandished  firearms, pointing them at an employee and a customer who were in the store, Musella said.

One suspect grabbed the employee and a struggle ensued, Musella said. The two suspects fled the store, leaving behind duct tape and zip ties, Musella said.

Urbano is charged with armed robbery, conspiracy to commit robbery and multiple weapons offenses and Castillo is charged with armed robbery, weapons offenses and aggravated assault, Musella said.

Urbano was located and apprehended in Detroit with the assistance of Homeland Security and agents from US Customs and Border Protection, Musella said. He was extradited to Bergen County on Tuesday, Nov. 19, where he remains detained.

Between July and November of last year, detectives arrested Beiker Aguilera Areyan, Daniel Rivas-Alvarado, Yeison Amarante Bolivar and Jhon Requena Yerena for their roles in the robbery, Musella said.

Three of the men remain held in Bergen County Jail while Amarante is pending extradition from Florida, Musella said.

Castillo remains a fugitive from justice, Musella said. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office Tips Line at (201) 226-5532.
