DALLAS — At Community Beer Company on a recent Wednesday, Daniel and Andrea Wolf settled in for their weekly date — complete with craft brews, good conversation and their pup of the week.

This time, it was Kime, a 2-year-old pit bull mix who has spent more than a month at Dallas Animal Services. Outside the shelter, she trotted happily through the brewery, soaking up attention from every customer who passed.

The Wolfs have been volunteering with DAS’ doggy daycation program since 2024, giving dogs short trips outside the overcapacity shelter to help them decompress and get noticed.

“In an overcapacity shelter, they’re not going to be seen as well,” Andrea Wolf said. “But when you bring them out of the shelter, they are.”
