COLUMBUS, Ohio -- An Ohio lawmaker says he plans to introduce legislation banning high school athletes from profiting from their name, image and likeness in response to the Ohio High School Athletic Association moving to permit such deals earlier this week.

The OHSAA announced Monday that its member schools voted 447-121 in favor of an emergency bylaw referendum permitting high school athletes to seek NIL compensation. The vote, with 247 schools abstaining, came in response to a temporary restraining order issued last month by Franklin County Judge Jaiza Page that blocked the association from enforcing its NIL restrictions.
