Two passengers were flung out the back door of a car after the vehicle swung around at high speed launching them out. The driver of the Volkswagen polo, Jamie Challis, fled the scene leaving two of his passengers with "very, very serious injuries" on the side of the road. The incident happened in Newport and was featured on the latest episode of BBC's Crash Detectives.
The episode showed detectives piecing together evidence to determine that the polo was travelling at a speed of 70mph in a 30mph zone just two seconds before hitting a Citroen C3, the car then "glanced" a lamppost, ripping the back door open and causing the unbelted passengers to fly out the car.
