FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Around 1500 meals were served at the annual St. Mary’s Soup Kitchen Thanksgiving dinner.

Organizers say close to 100 volunteers participated in serving the meals.

“Without those volunteers, we would not be able to serve that many people,” said parish member Krista Stockman.

She says the occasion is also a good opportunity to reinforce an important message.

“We just always want to serve as a reminder that these are people. These are our neighbours, these are our friends, these are our family members, and so today is just a day where we can come together, and we can eat together, share a meal, and celebrate as a community,” Stockman said.

She also wants to remind people that serving this many people takes more than manpower.
