LOUISVILLE, Ky. — A handful of businesses near the site of the deadly UPS plane crash are reopening their doors after Louisville Metro Government moved one of its road blockades farther back along Grade Lane.
For many in the area, the shift marks a return to routine, and for some, a return to much-needed income.
Rusty Rooster Recycling, a scrap-metal business relied on by many Louisvillians, welcomed customers again Wednesday for the first time since the crash.
Fairdale resident William Monday stopped by looking to exchange collected metal for cash.
“Just collecting up a little scrap, little junk around the house, and coming to get a little extra money," Monday said. "Man, I found out it was closed. I was like, oh man, what am I going to do for gas today?”
