KNOXVILLE, Tenn — Cory Herb said that he's thankful to be working as a police officer in Knoxville .

"It's the greatest job I've had," Herb said.

The Marine Veteran told WBIR that what makes the job even better is getting to work beside another Marine Veteran, his best friend — and wife — Kate.

"Same squad — she works on the west side. I work on the east side, so same days off, same days on, same holidays," Herb said.

"If I have something crazy, I know I have someone I can call, who's probably gone through a similar situation or who has been there before and has worked through whatever challenge I'm looking at," Kate said.

Kate and Cory met in the barracks, where they lived next door to each other.

"I married her four months later," Cory said.
