NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Mark Dickerson welcomed over 1,000 people to his free Thanksgiving feast Thursday, continuing a tradition he has maintained for nine years.
Dickerson, who operates Donelson Cafe and Catering, opened his doors to anyone seeking a meal or place to gather on the holiday.
“This is a truly thankful Thanksgiving event. We got people coming in here eating a good old turkey and dressing dinner with us,” Dickerson said.
The annual event serves families of all sizes, according to Dickerson.
“It doesn’t matter, you know, if there’s two in their family or six in their family. Let’s just feed them,” he said.
Dickerson said the event addresses hunger in Nashville while providing a gathering place for those who might otherwise spend the holiday alone.
