OMAHA, Neb. —

Project Intentional, an Omaha nonprofit, hosted its first-ever community Thanksgiving dinner, a free event open to all residents.

The founder, Sasha Patricia, said the idea sprang after she had been asked if she would host an open house Thanksgiving. With help from local restaurants, they prepared over 800 servings of food.

"We just want to create a culture and a community where we can all come together as one," Patricia said. "And it doesn't matter if you're serving or you're there to eat and create community. We want you."

For one family, the event provided a unique way to celebrate the holiday, bringing together three generations.
