A private hire driver has been caught with illegally picked up passengers in the back of his car at Glasgow Central station. Gurdett Singh’s licence was suspended for three months after a council taxi enforcement officer spotted people entering his vehicle without a booking.

A group of people were seen getting into the motor during a date in August, a meeting heard this week. When the official approached the driver it was discovered the job did not show up in the booking system.

Singh made a number of excuses at yesterday’s licensing and regulatory committee. But it emerged he had made a different statement at the time of the incident – admitting the mistake.
