WASHINGTON — Tributes poured following the death of , 20, of Webster Springs, a member of the West Virginia National Guard, who was killed in a targeted attack in Washington, D.C.
Former Sen. Joe Manchin, I-W.Va., urged prayers for Beckstrom’s family and called the attack “heinous.” He praised the Guard’s long record of service, saying its members “serve with pride, bravery, and professionalism,” and said Beckstrom “will forever be remembered as a hero.”
Manchin also asked Americans to continue praying for Air Force Staff Sgt. Andrew Wolfe, 24, of Martinsburg and Inwood, who was also injured in the attack.
Rep. Carol Miller, R-W.Va., said “America lost the best of us” and called on the public to give Beckstrom’s family space to grieve.
