One million people are stopping paying the BBC TV licence fee ahead of forecasted £200 bills. The cost of a TV licence will rise to almost £200 by the end of the decade, the Sun newspaper has reported.

Forecasts from the Office for Budget Responsibility predicted that the license fee will rise from its current rate of £174.50 a year to just under £197 by the next election, which is predicted to be in 2029.

It comes as the number of people paying the licence fee is expected to fall by more than a million, to 21 million over the same period.
