CLARKSBURG, W.Va. — An 18-year-old Fairmont man is facing charges after a Thanksgiving Day pursuit on I-79 in Harrison County.
Charles Jonathan Roach, 18, was clocked on I-79 southbound by Bridgeport police traveling 92 miles per hour in a 70 mile per hour zone near the Jerry Dove Drive exit.
Roach pulled into the rest area, but drove through back to the interstate reaching speeds of more than 100 miles per hour. Roach exited the interstate at Quiet Dell and fled on Route 20 to Nutter Fort.
While traveling on Route 50 Roach ran three traffic signals before turning east on East Pike Street. He then passed a West Virginia Division of Highways Vehicle in the grass median near Columbia Boulevard before hitting stop sticks placed by the Clarksburg Police Department.
