Immigration system is broken. GOP won’t fix it
To the Editor:
In response to Louis Loiodice’s recent letter supporting this administration’s immigration policy ( “Why do we excuse breaking immigration law?,” Nov. 17, 2025):
Is the immigration system broken and does it need to be reformed? Absolutely.
I seem to remember a bill that was introduced during the Biden administration: H.R. 10034, the Border Security and Immigration Reform Act, that would have addressed many aspects of this broken system.
It wasn’t perfect by any means, but initially it had broad bipartisan support. It even had funding for Trump’s wall (the one Mexico was supposed to pay for.) But he pressured Republican lawmakers to kill it because he didn’t want Biden to have a win. And Republicans caved. So, pettiness
