Animal advocates are hoping that Delaware County can give them a building on the Don Guanella property to use for intake and a cat sanctuary to address the stray animal situation.

“We want a building at Don Guanella,” Lisa Small, who founded Delco Loves Animals with her husband, Richard, about a year ago, said at a community meeting last week. “A building in that area along with acreage for a cat sanctuary. The county told us that they would give us a building … Somehow Don Guanella came up.

“We thought that would be an excellent space,” Small added. “Maybe we could have animal control stationed there. We could have a veterinary clinic there.”
