Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky and Head of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak in Kyiv in January, 2024.
Ukraine’s anti-corruption agencies searched the home of President Volodymyr Zelensky’s powerful chief of staff on Friday, escalating a major political crisis as Kyiv faces pressure from Washington to accept terms for a peace deal.
The official, Andriy Yermak, who leads Kyiv’s negotiating team trying to hash out terms after Washington presented a draft backing Russian demands, confirmed his apartment was being searched and said he was fully co-operating.
In a joint statement, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and the Specialised Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office said the searches were “authorized” and linked to an unspecified investigation.
