SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) - Springfield traffic engineers’ goal is to keep you moving during the holiday rush. But it could mean sitting in gridlock for longer than expected.

“I go different routes until I find the best way in the morning,” said Sandy Adams.

She says she plans extra time for her morning commute from one side of Springfield to the other. She often battles heavy traffic and tries to keep up with the timing of the signal lights.

“You may make 2 lights. Then miss one or two. You just feel like on some roads you’re not getting anywhere,” she said.

Adams says when she does finally get moving, she often finds herself back at a standstill.

She said, “I mean, you may sit for 3, 4 minutes waiting for a light change, and nobody is even coming.”
