Restaurateur Kim Stephen has passed away at age 40, his restaurant Light Years said in a statement on Nov. 26

Stephen is remembered as "the magic, the imagination, the intuition and the spark behind everything we built," Light Years said

He is survived by his 18-month-old son and his fiancée Peta Van De Velde, who said she "implores any man fighting battles" to seek "help" after his death

Australian restaurateur Kim Stephen has died at age 40.

Light Years restaurant in Byron Bay shared a statement confirming his passing on Wednesday, Nov. 26. "It is with deep sadness that we share the passing of one of our founding owners and Creative Director, Kim Stephen," the restaurant said in a statement posted to social media.

A cause of death was not made known publicly.
