The National Weather Service issued a weather alert at 8:16 a.m. on Friday for lake effect snow until 9:15 a.m. for Hamilton, Saratoga, Warren, Washington and Fulton counties.

"At 8:15 a.m., a lake effect snow band was 9 miles southwest of Sacandaga Campground, or 17 miles north of Gloversville moving east at 40 MPH," says the weather service.

This includes Interstate 87 between exits 16 and 22 snow rates could reach a half an inch to an inch an hours reduce visibility briefly to a half mile or less.

Expect lake effect snow in the following locations:

Sacandaga Campground around 8:25 a.m.

Day Center around 8:40 a.m.

Lake Luzerne-Hadley around 8:50 a.m.

Lake Luzerne Campground around 8:55 a.m.

Glens Falls North around 9 a.m.

Glens Falls and West Glens Falls around 9:05 a.m.
