IT'S NOT uncommon for a new head coach to arrive at a club and to try and make an immediate statement.

There are, of course, times when that is necessary. Take charge of a club struggling at the wrong end of the table where it's clear change is required and shaking things up might be the best and only option to spark a reaction.

But even when things are going well, new managers often feel the need to immediately put their stamp on the side, perhaps in an effort to justify their appointment and arrival.

Kim Hellberg will of course make changes at Middlesbrough but they'll be gradual and what he won't do is rip things up and start again.
