A Woolpit man who armed himself with an axe and smashed the windows of another man's car in an “impulsive attack”, a court has heard.
Jack Warden, 34, of Drinkstone Road, Woolpit, appeared at Ipswich Crown Court on Friday, where he was sentenced after admitting criminal damage and possession of an offensive weapon.
The court heard that on 9 February 2025 Warden was standing in a road when two cars – driven by a couple – passed him.
The first driver, the girlfriend of the victim, swerved around him, prompting him to gesture and spit at her vehicle.
The second car stopped, and its driver challenged Warden, while there was a two-year-old child in the back of the vehicle.
An argument followed in which Warden spat at one car and kicked the passenger door of the other.
